Yvonne's Story On How we Met
It was Friday, October 31, 2008. It was a cool brisk night and everybody that was somebody was getting ready to head down to Dickson Street to dance the night away in their Halloween costumes. A familiar place where we are hung out was Jerzee’s Bar and Grille. DJ Derrick was always on the ones and twos and Tee—the bartender made sure everyone was feeling right. My friends and I begin to dance the night away to songs like “The Stanky Leg”.
As the night went on I felt eyes on me from across the room—hmmm ---who could that be watching me. So I whispered to Tracy Rowan (my NWA bff) “Do you see that guy at the bar watching me?” She paid me no attention because she was too busy watching the cutie in the corner. So I continued to dance—suddenly this guy is standing behind me doing his slow sway as he held a “Cape Cod” in his right hand. He begins to whisper sweet nothings in my ear as I continue to dance and ignore him. Finally, I asked Tracy was he cute before I could turn around and engage in any conversation. After her conformation, I then asked for his name. He told me “SAM”.
Oh okay..well Sam..where are you from because I haven’t seen you before. (you know NWA is a small town..so everybody knows everybody). He told me that he lived in Bentonville and worked for Wal-Mart. I then said..oh..okay..that explains a lot. Then I asked him again..where are you from..and he said Tulsa and I told him to stop lying..where are you really from..and he said TULSA!!!! I guess this is what hooked him because he looked puzzled that someone who knows nothing about him would tell him that he’s lying. After that he whispered in my right ear that he would take me out. I’m thinking to myself…WHATEVER..you don’t even know me. We danced, laughed and later exchanged numbers and the rest is history.. (Please look for the rest of the story in our Book---The Right Turn)

Sams's Story on the Proposal
So yearly Tasha and I take a vacation and it’s usually to a place we have never been before. Now I had already planned to propose on this trip and had made all the proper arrangements like having the Jewler ship the ring to me but make sure it stayed at the FedEx location so that I could pick it up. I definitely did not want her to just so happen to be home and the FedEx carrier drops a package off and she open it and spoil the surprise.
So we decided to go to San Diego, California on April 22, 2010 for vacation. So as we are packing to go I’m so nervous because I don’t know where to put the ring. You know TSA is serious and I might have had to pull it out and spoil the surprise or I could have placed it in my checked luggage and then it could have gotten lost or stolen. So I decided to take the ring inside of my carry on and luckily no issues.
So we get to San Diego and are having a blast on that Saturday night we went to a Restaurant overlooking the city. As we talked over appetizers and drinks I paused and took a knee. She looked extremely surprised and I asked her would she spend the rest of her life with me as my wife. Now I’m sure there was a lot more words that lead up to that, but that’s the summarized version. She looked and the ring and couldn’t believe it and said yes. Then she called her parents and some of her friends. After the call to her Father I think it finally hit her and she began to cry.
We had a great night and an excellent morning. That Sunday morning I took her to a spot in San Diego right off the water where we had brunch and listened to Jazz and recollected on the night.
We’re GETTING MARRIED!
